Sixth Grade Teacher: Position Summary

Germantown Christian Schools is seeking a dedicated and Christ-centered Sixth Grade Teacher who is passionate about Christian education and committed to preparing students for academic success while fostering spiritual growth and biblical character. The ideal candidate will provide engaging instruction, establish high academic expectations, and create a positive learning environment that supports students during this important transitional stage of development.

Essential Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver effective daily instruction in accordance with the Abeka curriculum.

• Prepare weekly lesson plans that align with curriculum objectives and educational goals.

• Integrate biblical principles and Christian values into all areas of instruction and classroom activities.

• Teach core academic subjects including Bible, Language Arts, Reading, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies, as assigned.

• Encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and independent learning skills.

• Create a structured and engaging classroom environment that promotes academic excellence and Christian character.

• Assess student learning through assignments, projects, quizzes, tests, and classroom participation.

• Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, academic progress, and student behavior.

• Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, concerns, and achievements.

• Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students.

• Establish and maintain classroom management procedures that promote respect, responsibility, and self-discipline.

• Provide academic intervention and support for students requiring additional assistance.

• Collaborate with fellow teachers and administration to support student success and school-wide initiatives.

• Participate in faculty meetings, parent-teacher conferences, professional development opportunities, and school-sponsored events.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional classroom environment.

• Ensure classroom materials, textbooks, technology, and educational resources are properly maintained and utilized.

• Supervise students during assigned duties, including lunch, recess, arrival, dismissal, field trips, and other school activities.

• Prepare students academically and socially for the increased expectations of junior high and secondary education.

• Uphold and model the school's Statement of Faith, mission, and Christian standards of conduct at all times.

Qualifications

• A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to Christian education.

• Agreement with and willingness to uphold the Germantown Christian Schools Statement of Faith.

• Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and classroom management skills.

• Ability to effectively engage upper-elementary and middle school-aged students.

• Experience teaching elementary or middle school students is preferred.

• Ability to effectively implement the Abeka curriculum and instructional methods.

• Must meet all applicable school employment requirements.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, and actively supervise students throughout the school day.

• Ability to lift and move classroom materials, textbooks, and supplies as needed.

• Ability to maintain a safe and productive classroom environment.

Work Schedule

This position follows the Germantown Christian Schools academic calendar and requires attendance during scheduled school hours, faculty meetings, professional development days, parent conferences, and school-related events.
