First Grade Teacher: Position Summary
Germantown Christian Schools is seeking a dedicated and Christ-centered First Grade Teacher who is passionate about Christian education and committed to helping students grow academically, spiritually, socially, and emotionally. The ideal candidate will create a positive learning environment that promotes academic excellence while integrating biblical principles throughout daily instruction.
Essential Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging daily lessons in accordance with the Abeka curriculum.
Prepare weekly lesson plans that align with curriculum objectives and educational standards.
Integrate biblical principles and Christian values into all areas of instruction and classroom activities.
Foster a safe, nurturing, and Christ-centered classroom environment.
Teach foundational skills in reading, phonics, language arts, mathematics, science, Bible, and social studies.
Assess student progress through assignments, quizzes, tests, observations, and classroom participation.
Maintain accurate attendance records, gradebooks, and student documentation.
Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, behavior, and academic concerns.
Differentiate instruction to meet the varying academic needs of students.
Establish and maintain effective classroom management procedures that encourage respect, responsibility, and positive behavior.
Provide academic support and intervention for students who require additional assistance.
Participate in parent-teacher conferences, faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events.
Collaborate with administration and fellow teachers to support school-wide goals and initiatives.
Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment that promotes effective learning.
Ensure classroom materials, supplies, and educational resources are properly maintained and cared for.
Supervise students during assigned duties, including lunch, recess, arrival, dismissal, or other designated activities.
Uphold and model the school's Statement of Faith, mission, and Christian standards of conduct at all times.
Qualifications
A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to Christian education.
Agreement with and willingness to uphold the Germantown Christian Schools Statement of Faith.
Strong organizational, communication, and classroom management skills.
Ability to work effectively with students, parents, faculty, and administration.
Experience teaching elementary-aged students is preferred.
Ability to effectively implement the Abeka curriculum and instructional methods.
Must meet all applicable school employment requirements.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, and actively supervise students throughout the school day.
Ability to lift and move classroom materials and supplies as needed.
Ability to maintain a safe and productive classroom environment.

Create a structured and engaging classroom environment that promotes academic excellence and Christian character.
Assess student learning through assignments, projects, quizzes, tests, and classroom participation.
Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, academic progress, and student behavior.

Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
Establish and maintain classroom management procedures that promote respect, responsibility, and self-discipline.
